Prof Dipti Prasad Mukherjee is a senior professor in the Computer and Communication Sciences Division and currently acting as the Deputy Director of the Indian Statistical Institute. He is also the Director of the IDEAS – Institute of Data Engineering, Analytics and Science Foundation, Technology Innovation Hub of ISI. Prof Mukherjee’s research interests are in Image Processing, Computer Vision and Computer Graphics. Prof Mukherjee has published several pioneering research papers in several international journals and is also the author of two books in Computer Graphics and Multi-media. He has undertaken several consulting assignments for leading business houses of India.

Dr. Malay Bhattacharyya of MIU, ISI Kolkata is an Associate Member of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CAIML), and also of the IDEAS Technology Innovation Hub. He is a certified Design Thinker from MIT Sloan School of Management and holds a doctorate in Computer Science from Indian Statistical Institute. He has a couple of decades of teaching and research experience including short academic visits to Stanford University and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Prof Bhattacharyya is currently serving as a member of the Assessment & Search Committee, ACM Publications Board. He served in The Lancet COVID-19 Commission: India Task Force during 2021-22.

NILANJAN RAY

Dr. Nilanjan Ray is a Professor in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta, Canada. He holds degrees from Jadavpur University, the Indian Statistical Institute, and the University of Virginia. Following postdoctoral research and industry experience, he joined the University of Alberta in 2006. His research focuses on computer vision, image analysis, and visual recognition with deep learning, including applications in medical imaging and general computer vision. He has also held leadership roles in AI/GI/CRV conferences and served as an Associate Editor for prestigious journals.

DEBAPRIYO MAJUMDAR

Dr Debapriyo Majumdar is a graduate from Chennai Mathematical Institute and earned his PhD in Computer Science from Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics, Saarbrucken. He worked as Advisory Researcher and Senior Researcher at IBM Research India, where he twice received the IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (OTAA). His current teaching and research interests are Data Mining, Information Retrieval, Natural Language Processing, Big Data, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, AI and Algorithms. He is working towards building useful systems and applications involving text search, text analysis, content creation, crowdsourcing and related fields.

SRIJIT MUKHERJEE
Interpretable AI Researcher at Penn State University, USA
Srijit Mukherjee, an alumnus of Indian Statistical Institute, is presently an AI researcher at Penn State University who focuses on developing interpretable, safe, and robust AI solutions, particularly in medicine, with interests extending to education, finance, and cognition. Srijit believes in interpretability in AI and learning through curiosity, research, and persistent problem-solving. Srijit also possess experience in research, teaching, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Diptendu Dutta is a computer Technologist with extensive expertise in software product development, software verification and validation, software architecture working in multiple domains for 30+ years. Diptendu is a B.E (Computer Science) from Jadavpur University and an M.S (Computer Science) from University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He has technical expertise in the areas of Open-Source Technologies, Natural Language Processing, eLearning and Knowledge Management technologies, Object-oriented software development (including distributed objects and web-based technologies), Data Warehousing and OLAP, Software Re-engineering, and Formal Methods.

SAIKAT SARKAR

Saikat Sarkar received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and completed his thesis as a Research Scholar at the Indian Statistical Institute. His research interests include Computer Vision in Sports, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Large Language Models. He serves as a Reviewer of the journals IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MULTIMEDIA, Springer Nature Computer Science and
Springer journal SADHANA. He also has 3 years of experience as a Software Developer with Cognizant Technology Solutions.

AMITAVA BANDYOPADHYAY

Professor Amitava Bandyopadhyay, who served twice as the head of the SQC & OR Division at the Indian Statistical Institute and retired in 2023. Prof. Bandyopadhyay has extensive experience designing curricula for numerous short- and medium-term courses on analytics, statistical process control (SPC), and other areas, aimed at leveraging statistics and data analytics for quality improvement. His work has benefited organizations such as Infosys, TCS, L&T Infotech, ITC, BHEL, ICI, Ordnance Factories (now defense PSUs), and Tata Steel. Prof. Bandyopadhyay has witnessed the successes and challenges of numerous initiatives over his long career, many of which have been widely covered in the media.

SUJOY BISWAS
Principal Scientist

Dr. Sujoy Kumar Biswas is the Founder and Principal Scientist at AIMP Labs, an AI research and training center in India. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Statistical Institute. His research spans computer vision, bioimage analysis, and AI-driven industrial automation, with prior roles at IBM Almaden Research Center, the Indian Statistical Institute, and the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has collaborated with institutions like University College London and Tata Steel, published in top-tier journals, and received awards including the Best Student Paper Award at ICIP 2014. Dr. Biswas is also actively involved in AI education, having designed courses and mentored graduate students.
